JUDr. Věra Honusková, Ph.D.
Founder and Head of the Centre
Věra Honusková is an Assistant Professor at the Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague. Her research and lectures focus on refugee law, migration law, and international human rights protection. At Charles University, Dr. Honusková founded the specialized module Asylum, Migration, and Minority Law, which enables students to acquire knowledge and skills in both international and domestic refugee and migration law. She regularly participates in conferences both in the Czech Republic and abroad and publishes extensively in these fields.
She is one of the creators and organizers of the Camp Peira training exercise. Dr. Honusková is the Czech representative in the Odysseus Network, which brings together experts on asylum and migration issues from European Union countries. She is also a member of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic’s Commission for Decision-Making on Foreigners’ Residence.
Her previous experience includes work in non-governmental organizations and a law firm.
JUDr. Eliška Flídrová, PhD.
Deputy Head of the Centre
Eliška Flídrová is a lecturer in International Law at the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague. Her academic and professional work focuses on issues concerning refugee and migration law, human rights, and state sovereignty. She actively participates in research projects within the field of public international law and regularly attends both national and international conferences. Since 2012, Dr. Flídrová has served as a junior researcher at the Charles University Research Centre for Human Rights. In addition to her academic activities, she practices law with a focus on human rights and migration matters.
Mgr. Bc. Enes Zaimović
Doctoral candidate and Assistant lecturer
Enes Zaimović is a doctoral candidate at the Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague. His dissertation focuses on the cessation clause of the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the issue of the “temporariness” of protection afforded to its beneficiaries. In his legal practice, he also specializes in refugee and migration law at both European and national levels, working as a trainee lawyer at a law firm in Prague specializing in refugee and migration law.
Mgr. Sára Barčáková
Research Fellow
Sára Barčáková holds a master’s degree from the Faculty of Law at Charles University. She also studied migration at Maastricht University. Her primary focus is on refugee and migration law at both European and national levels. She completed internships in public sector institutions as well as non-governmental organizations and participated in a research project during a summer school on the island of Lesbos. Sára is also engaged in migration law as a trainee lawyer at a law firm specializing in immigration law.
Mgr. Štěpán Komárek
Research Fellow
Štěpán Komárek is a research fellow at the Centre, focusing primarily on topics related to temporary protection (and its predecessor, temporary refuge) as well as legislation concerning the reception and return of foreigners. At the Centre, he leads the project Stories of the Czech Refugee Experience, which explores the post-communist beginnings of Czech and Czechoslovak asylum and migration policy through oral history interviews. In addition, he works at the Organization for Aid to Refugees.
Tereza Hlaváčková
Research Assistant
Tereza Hlaváčková is a student at the Faculty of Law, Charles University. She contributes to the Centre’s activities primarily through her organizational skills and is responsible for the PR agenda. She has long been engaged in migration and asylum issues — volunteering with the Organization for Aid to Refugees and as part of the Hlavák Initiative. Additionally, she works at a law firm specializing in immigration law, where she develops her expertise through daily legal practice. She also gained experience during an internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Department of Community Law.
